Special Needs

Where a child has particular difficulties to overcome, class teachers will discuss this with parents. It may be appropriate to place the child on ‘The Register of Special Needs’. This means that the teacher, in consultation draws up an ‘Individual Education Plan’, which is then reviewed. If a child requires further help, we provide additional support and/or we may seek external support and advice. Other agencies may be involved in supporting children with special educational needs and the L.E.A. shares responsibility with the school if a child requires a ‘Statement of Special Educational Needs’.

There is a member of staff designated with responsibility for S.E.N. and a link governor who oversees work in this area.
