The full title is Knight Commander of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great and the award recognises the enormous contribution he has made to public service in the UK, to the Catholic Church and to the numerous charities he has supported at home and abroad over the years.

Ten Past Grand Presidents of the Catenian Association were in the congregation along with many friends and fellow Catenians to share the happy occasion.
The following weekend there were other promotions - Joe to Knight Grand Cross and Philomena to Dame Commander with Star of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, an Order which is under the patronage and protection of the Holy See and is further recognition of exceptional service to the Church.
